Is it wrong that I don't want to improve myself for women?

I've heard about self improvement and how it benefits your dating life. But I can't grasp the concept of having to make improvements or enhance flaws just to make myself more appealing or acceptable to women. And I can't stick through with the plan of improving myself because I realise I only do it to try and be more attractive to opposite sex. It's like I have to become something else and can't really be myself because it's not attractive. Not that I'm a shitty person or sadistic. But working out or changing characteristics for a women isn't for me.
