Indian guys - can you marry a white woman?

Indian guys,

In your culture, is it common for Indian men to marry white women? I’m asking because my sister is in a relationship with an Indian man, and he hides her from his family. Yet, he says he wants to marry her.

Would really appreciate your insight.

Although it is not common, it isn't uncommon either. It takes lot of effort from guys to even bring up marrying outside cast, religion is another issue. Race, obviously is another.

But, youth of india are progressing. Many have decided to marry the girl they like, instead of their parents choice. It is also fueled by the fact that most indian girls are extremely close to their parents and family. To a point sometimes, where parents teach their daughters how to manipulate and emotionally abuse their husband, so that their daughter can remain incharge. Hence more guys are preferring other girls for marriage.

So I think it is possible that your sisters boyfriend really wanna marry her. But obviously it will take time.

I dont know. But I feel they still resist. Some form of way to preserve the heritage. It is actually more common for guys to be able to marry foreign girls, when their families are in india.

It's a issue in many South Asian families. Many South Asians can barely marry someone of different caste let alone different religion or different race. Brown parents usually force their opinions on their children reason being their conservative nature, religious beliefs or societal pressure (of course not brown parents are like that).

Depends on the man and how traditional he is, if he's attached to his family and religion and his standards are strongly tied to his roots, it's gonna be really difficult to pull out of it and marry a girl from different origins

Hi, I'm an indian. it's not common here but There are few who marry foreigners. My cousin got married to a British woman. Apart from local gossips, nothing disturbs them. They live happily.

Yeah, it's actually more common between guys settled abroad. If both the families agrees eachother, I don't think any other things matters.

My sister’s boyfriend has introduced her to his mom, brother, aunt, and cousin, but isn’t ready to introduce her to his father given that he is strict. Do you think there’s still hope for their relationship to work out? They are both 24 years old and have good careers.
