I broke up with my boyfriend and he didn’t try to stop me?

Was he relieved I was ending it?
Mad because I spoke the truth?
Maybe little sad?

Things between us weren’t good for a while and for months I felt he was slow fading me. Whenever I asked he would say everything was fine but lately he would only meet with me if we had sex. Otherwise he was busy.

I expected him to say that he would try and change but instead he said:
if that’s how you feel then I’m sorry. I wish you good luck. Thank you for good memories.
what do you think? Was he relieved? Maybe hurt ego?

When I broke up with my ex, he had a similar reaction. But then he had a breakdown on his own after (I only know because I realized I'd forgotten to return my apartment key, and had to arrange to return it - he left me waiting in the foyer for a good ten/twenty minutes as he realized it was finally over and broke down in private upstairs).

Don't worry or bother yourself with his process. He'll do what he needs, you do what you need.

He's your ex, now. Let him go, leave him be.

Does it matter? He's your ex now, move on. I've had a couple of break-ups that hurt, and I cried over them for maybe 10 minutes. Then I'd simply move on, there's no point wondering about any of this stuff, they're gone. Onwards and upwards.

I told him that I wish it were easier but it’s hard because of how I feel about him. He never replied to that.

I recently had some request that I never again contact her, and I told her that I would honor her wish. She then retorted that my quick acquiescence "proved" that I never really cared about her. Of course, if I had said that I don't care what she wants and I'll continue to contact her, the she would have retorted that my selfish refusal to honor her request "proved" that I never really cared about her.

In essence, she threw out a request/demand such that, no matter how I responded, she could conclude that I never cared about her. . . and perhaps she did that because i will make it easier for her to move forward.
