Why do you think a woman in her early 40s would want to date a man in his mid 20s? Why do you think a man in his mid 20s would want to date a woman in her early 40s? Do you think such a relationship could work in the short term? Why/why not? What about the long term? Why/why not?
Why do you think a woman in her early 40s would want to date a man in his mid 20s (and vice versa)? Do you think such a relationship could work?

Michael Douglas (75) and Catherine Zeta Jones (50), married for about 20 years. Emmanuel Macron (43) and Brigitte Macron (67), married for 14 years. If these could work, why not a couple where one is 20+ and the other 40+? But they'd have to be compatible, to respect and love each other, and to be willing to make compromises that same-age couples might not have to make (such as that the older person might not want to have kids). And of course the older person would have to lay aside any insecurities about younger persons of the opposite sex from the younger one's circles, the younger one would have to forget about looking at such persons, and both would have to withstand external pressure from people questioning their relationship and the motives of each in the relationship, and remain loyal and true to each other.

They could work short term or long term, depending on what they want.
