One of my colleagues (he's a very nice guy, we get along, and he's married) asked me out of the blue one day if I had a boyfriend. I told him I didn't, and he asked me why. I told him I was just really focusing on myself and didn't plan to ever date or marry or etc. (I was trying to get to the point that I didn't have incentive for it). He seemed unconvinced.
Then he said that if I wanted, he could get me dates, and then I could get a boyfriend.
I wondered why he offered to set up dates for me?
Why would a guy do that? Did he think I should just not be alone? I asked him, but he didn't give me a straight answer.

No matter what people say, even myself, no one wants to be alone. He's trying to set you up because he wants you to enjoy the benefits of a relationship. Maybe he sees that you are lonely, or you are missing something else.1
