For over 20 years now, blue collar work has been put in the back burner especially with advancement in technology across various industries. In addition, most people who do manual work are not enumerated as well as white collar workers despite offering essential and in some cases, technical work. This has also become clear during the COVID-19 pandemic as more blue collar workers are considered as offering essential services e. g truck drivers, refuse collectors, security personnel. How can we start valuing blue collar work more and ensuring these skills are not completely lost to avoid absolute dependence on technology alone. Please comment on the situation in your countries as well. It would be nice to see where we have similarities across the globe.
