Why aren't we encouraging both genders to take home economics?

Anonymous
Home economics is seen as this antiquated class from the 50s or 60's in which girls were taught the basics of how to run a household so that they would grow up to be great housewives in their future, but in 2020, why isn't this class being taught to both genders? Why has this become unimportant now? To add to that, why aren't we teaching things like financial literacy and car care, again, to both genders? I know a lot of schools will claim "budget!" but why not at least offer it as an after school option?
