i also did sql/mysql which was a pain in the ass but sort of useful when doing websites, along with apache i worked with, perl part of php (didn't code just read it when neccessary for websites), didn't work with python, bash was sort of useful but not much and that was only when i needed to use commandline interface when working with linux which was a lot bash had to be used or windows very rarely for bash. I never bothered learning C# but linus torvalds loves C# for whatever fucked up reasons he has
unless you plan on making videogames that's the only other reason i can see a need for learning any programming language or unless you want to work in a data center
i learned all that useless shit by reading and studying there's no other way of doing it and by practicing with a good and decent compiler and back then some compilers costed thousands which was why cracks were needed to be made back then
unless you plan on making your own virus or trojan or worm or malware or spyware or rootkit or keylogger or adware or ransomware or antivirus or antispyware or antimalware or firewall there's no real reason to code other than the previously listed
Yeah I agree that quite a few coding languages have become obsoleted but I didn’t know as much as you honestly this is an eye opening post for me thank you. I also use bash a lot for command line interface in my masters program and I find it useful. I also find it sorta fun because it’s very simple and quick and you can navigate your whole computer in this sort of reduced space but overall I agree with you coding is tedious and may not be worth it in the long run. True geniuses learn something more scientific or technical and coding is just to fill in some gaps but it’s not the main engine for technology I guess
