Why is it hard to find a “traditional” 9-5 job?

By traditional, I mean you clock in, work on some excel spreadsheets, give a company report, and clock out. Why is it that now, company recruiters care more about the emotional aspects, like trust, values, empathy, etc?

Usually when I ask about the certain job and what excel functions I’ll need to know, they something like “well yeah, that’s a part of it, but (insert emotional standards) are what we’re looking for.” The thing is, I didn’t study excel spreadsheets, regression lines, economic crisis and booms to do that.
Why is it hard to find a “traditional” 9-5 job?
