When I was a manager I trusted someone more if they gave 2 weeks notice to the job they were leaving unless they explained to me they were in a bad situation in the current job which I did have someone tell me honestly why they were leaving If you can't give 2 weeks notice because your new employer wants you now and won't budge don't feel bad we are in the middle of a deep recession.

yes, its the professional thing to do. you want to leave on a good note, especially if you liked working there. or just incase you need them in the future to write down as a reference.

I always have my jobs 2 week notices. Even when I hated it there. It’s the right thing to do
