As employee returned to work (I was hired as contract) was let go, employer was very apologetic & said he could offer me on-call/causal. Should I?

I don't really like the staff except him & his second. The rest, as I told my brother, you could toss in the trash and miss nothing. But it is in my specialty & easy work to keep my skills up.

So should I consider the on-call/casual & send him an email asking if he was been honest/legit - not in those words, more diplomatic - about the offer or say screw it.
