In America there is no job security. Some companies fire 10% of their most unproductive staff every year. In Europe it is impossible to fire someone. People in some European countries can even steal and cannot be fired. European companies have so many useless people working for them and cannot get rid of them. Which system do you prefer.
Should it be easy or difficult to fire someone legally?

These claims are straight bullshit. That is simple trolling.
Europeans get a lot of productivity by catering to their workers. America burns out its workforce and wonder why productivity lags.
I did a project in France where I had to build a datacenter with three other guys. We, the Americans, worked harder than everyone else. But learned to take breaks. We took off a weekend or two. Or we would do a two hour lunch with them.
It actually helped us to be more effective.

It should be just as easy to fire someone as it is for someone to quit. Which means very easy. Or at least it's easy here in the US where we don't usually have employment contracts.

Easy. If you have a broken tooth, you don’t wait until it breaks more before removing it. If you have cancer, you don’t wait until it spreads before you remove it. Etc. etc.

I agree but here in Europe thats not the case. Many companies have terrible people who commit many offences and cannot be fired. I have met people who committed so many offences and got away with it. Company could not fire them.
Sadly yeah :/ nepotism over here is a big problem. If they know the boss or owner, they’ll never get fired, and will fire those who speak out.

I don't know how the laws are, but in general I think it should be easy as long as you have some evidence of their lack of productivity.

in european countries you need lots of evidence and in many countries 3 strikes. So stealing and being caught will get you in legal trouble but not fired.

I think 3 strikes is good for normal lack of productivity. But not for actual crime. Who wants a sexual abuser or a thief.. that is at least ridiculous.

well I don't know about sex abuser but a man I know who owned a company said if you steal he cannot fire you but take you to court. Only after the 3rd time caught stealing you can be fired. This is in his particular country.

As an employer I get both the need to be able to fire someone as well as the need to know that you will have a job tomorrow. Of the two, though, Id rather have the flexibility to let someone go who isn't working out.

How can you build a life and prepare for the future if you could get fired at any point.

so you believe someone who steals from the workplace should be allowed to stay there?
