A degree alone is not what employers are looking for, if anything, that's the bare minimum. They need to see initiative taken and shown through their CV, everything they DIDN'T do regarding the degree. Job experience, technical experience, even free time hobbies.

If your CV isn't good, don't expect much...

Why not? Being a lawyer doesn't guarantee you a job. If you open your own practice, you still need clients.
