Our teacher told us the Earth is far from many hazards, why? What does he mean by that?

From what I know, a hazard is something that has the potential to harm lives. It is related to the solar system? I just realize that we have a shield protecting our Earth from the sun. Based on my research also, outer space has a space radiation. Radiation is one of the most menacing of the 5 hazards. It's one thing. Outer Space has Space Debris (space junks (?) ) I think stars can be considered as hazard, right? Because if stars in the future, let's say that they landed on Earth, it is said that humankind will be extinct. Well, what do you say? Is this what my teacher mean by that sentence?
