  • Probably "Matrix" ( 1999) and Armageddon ( 1998 ) . But I'm The SF type. They have a great story and good special effects that don't seem obsolete today (ar least not for me).

On a similar note, if you like Star Wars but you didn't see "2001: A Space Odyssey" ( 1968 ) , you lived for nothing. In my humble opinion, this beats any SF movie ever because it also fucks with your mind. Not to mention the special effects are fewer, but of a much better quality than the 9 years later "Star Wars 4".

Other on par movies I like but that are not SF:
    - Schindler's List
    - Shawshank Redemption
    - Saving Private Ryan
    - Forrest Gump
    - Iron Man (ok, you got me: it's a bit SF-ish)
    - Inception (similarly SF-ish)

    • I also like most comedies with Adam Sandler like:
      - I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry (my favourite)
      - 50 First Dates
      - Zohan
      - Just Go With It
      - Mr Deeds

And similarly for Jim Carrey (the old school ones) :
      - I Love You Phillip Morris
      - Fun With Dick And Jane
      - Me, Myself And Irene
      - Yes Man
      - Bruce Almighty
      - Liar Liar (just recently discovered, but it's golden)

      And some other randomly thrown:
      - How To Train Your Dragon
      - Bedazzled (šŸ˜)
      - Good Luck Chuck
      - Kingdom Of Heaven
      - 300
      - Gladiator
      - The Ugly Truth
      - The Girl Next Door (šŸ˜)

And again you lived for nothing if you haven't seen:
      - Van Wilder
      - Not Another Teen Movie

    • And sorry I forgot:
      - Shrek (how could I)
      - Wall-E
      - Inside Out (šŸ˜)
      - Zootopia
      - Big Hero 6
      - Bolt
      - Tangled
      - Kung Fu Panda

And there are probably a hundred more worth watching that I forgot mentioning... šŸ˜”

    • I best not spoil anything other than it's a man who is on a journey of self discovery. He laughs, he cries, he is what some might say the pinnacle of man! It's his debut performance and by god does he perform. It leaves a lasting impression that will leave you in awe.

Don't even watch the trailer for it, it shall do the film no justice.

Prepare yourself both physically and mentally for a magnitude of greatness the world has ever witnessed. Some might say that we weren't ready, and they were right... by GOD, they were right.

    • Uff that was intense, I just saw the trailer.
