  • 1984, by Orwell (the book!) why? those last sentences are scary

"He gazed up at the enormous face. Forty years it had taken him to learn what kind of smile was hidden beneath the dark moustache.
    O cruel, needless misunderstanding!
O stubborn, self-willed exile from the loving breast!
Two gin-scented tears trickled down the sides of his nose. But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished.

He had won the victory over himself. He loved Big Brother."

You can read the book online here: http://www.george-orwell.org/1984/0.html

(or download it at www.Gutenberg.org )

  • I’m obsessed with the Harry Potter series because I just love the story and the fantasy behind it all. I like reading about the wizarding world and I escape from reality for a little bit anytime I read something HP, watch the movies, or go to Diagon Alley/ Hogsmead at Universal Studios.

I just got the Song of Ice and Fire book series by George RR Martin, so I’m looking forward to reading that because I love the show so much.

Also, I loved the movie The Book Thief, but I never read the book. I just recently picked a copy up from a thrift store, so I’m excited to read that as well.

  • My favorite book of all time at this moment is Christopher Pike Sati is a book about a young lady that is found in the Arizona desert who believes or who claims to be God. The book spoke to me on so many levels because it was amazing how this young lady came to be and how after she had been essentially murdered that all of what she did came to light you should take a moment and actually look the book up and just read a few pages from it it's awesome

  • Wolf of Wall Street because it was funny and Leonardo DiCaprio. It showed me that you can be anything you want in this world and get anything you want. I liked how it showed his goals like "I'm going to be a millionaire" and he achieved it. I can connect to that because I've achieved many of my goals. Still can't believe Leo didn't get the oscar for this!😡

  • Rocky. It's so melancholic, and it's about striving to just make something of yourself. You don't have to win. You don't have to be the best and you likely never will. All you have to do is go the distance. If you can just do that, then just maybe you can look back on that accomplishment and say "Yeah - I did that".

He's just a guy. He's lazily scraping by in life because he thinks he has no other choice. He meets a girl with the opposite problems he has and thinks they make the perfect complimentary duo. The whole film just feels... small. Just a man, and all the little things in his life.

I had a train of thought in their somewhere but whatever - it's a fantastic movie and it really resonates with me

What Girls Said 13

  • My favorite movie is Uptown Girls with Brittany Murphy and Dakota fanning.
I'm not sure why I liked it so much when I was younger; probably because it was kind of whimsical and girly, and I was a fan of Dakota Fanning.
Now that I'm older, I realize that the emotional aspects of the movie. It is about struggling to grow up and I relate to Molly, the main character.

  • Flawed/perfect by Cecilia ahern. They're books. They speak to me because it really makes you realise how often we make poor judgements on other people according only to what society deems flawed. I suggest these books to anyone who likes reading.

  • “A Little Life” is a good one. I’m in the middle of reading it and I can already tell it is a book that will definitely touch me. It is extremely depressing (in a good way) and puts thoughts I have had into words I struggled to say.
