What's the Worst movie version of your accent?

Americans pretending to be British. English people trying to sound American. Aussies trying to be... less Aussie. Film is littered with tons of bad Accents or no accents when there should've been one. (Red October '90 and Robin Hood '91) Still some of these "Actors" really botch things up by listening to their Ego's advice of "Don't worry, You got this!" Nick Cage did a horribly grating Southern accent in Con Air which made the movie that much harder for me to get through. Haven't been able to watch it since.

What film butchered your Accent?

  • Daphne Moon in Frasier had an awful British accent. I think the actress was actually British but was told to emphasise it for the native American market.

  • The movie the Hitman's Bodyguard
it had a person speaking dutch and you can just hear its an English bloke trying to speak it.

but Dutch often gets butchered in English movies, it sucks to hear, like could they not get a single person who could teach them how to say it properly.

plus, usually its like background cast, some group walking by the main actors, couldnt they get replaced by a couple of actors who actually speak the language ffs.

    • Which character?

    • I can’t exactly remember
But I believe it was a dude who has a stand after they travel to the Netherlands.

Not one of the lead characters.

    • I watched that movie few months ago and I totally spaced out on it happening in Netherlands.😌

  • Any anime ever.

  • Anyone trying to sound french.
The only one who did it well was David Suchet as Hercules Poirot, and he was portraying a belgian.

  • Apparently Niska from Firefly is supposed to be Czech. He sounds a little too Russian, but it's not completely off. Definitely wouldn't call it butchered.

Then there's Anthropoid which has the accents pretty spot on - to the point it feels distracting.
