Are items allowed to be put into coffins?

My grandmother recently passed away and her funeral is coming up, I won't be able to attend her funeral with the rest of my family because I have to look after my little brother as nobody else can, so I wanted to write a letter to my grandmother and have it be put into her coffin so I still get to give her somewhat a goodbye. Is this allowed?

  • Of course it is. Flowers, letters, even small items.
    Sorry for your loss.

  • Oh man I did this for my mom's mom when she died. I wrote her a letter when I was 8 and it was placed on her coffin during the funeral. Yes it is. My letter was in coloring pens. Sorry for your loss.
