Why do you think manga genres use gender as the division?

For example: shoenen is for boys, shoujo is for girls, seinen is for adult men and josei is for adult women

  • It's an old style for one and 2 it is like using he or she.

  • I usually ignore that and read all kinds of manga. However I've only come across a few Shoujo manga and can understand a little why those would be stereotypically for girls.
