  • If it is then a whole host of women are willingly degrading themselves for money and they can't always blame male directors. I'm very sure that nobody tells Miley Cyrus, Rihanna or Lady Gaga what they have to wear and yet they choose to show everything but their anuses on a regular basis.

The same is true in TV and movies. Any number of actresses who need neither the money nor the work are more than willing to strip off for the camera. So if women are degrading themselves, and thus degrading other women, then it's perhaps for women to get their own house in order instead of just blaming male influence all the time.

  • The Europeans have got it right. They have a dating show called Adam meets Eve or something similar, where heterosexual men and women get together on an island and date (and I guess, do other stuff), and unlike in the American version (I think the American one is called Dating Naked), nothing gets censored.

As far as I know, no one has complained about it. Most likely, no one gives two hoots about it. It's just nudity.

  • We live in a society that is very driven by sex appeal for both genders. It’s a fact that the individual can’t change. However, I do believe that it is possible to show nudity (whether in part or completely) without it being degrading.

The human body can and should, in my opinion, be viewed as something to accept and respect as it is, rather than shame someone for having one or treating it chiefly as an object of lust.

People should be able to show as much or as little of their bodies as they want, including in entertainment. We as a society should respect that without automatically degrading them.

  • Personally think and feel it’s pretty degrading... why show yourself nude on public television? And why show it to people knowing you’ll get much backlash for it either or not, and then try to avoid psychos on the streets? You’re displaying it for the world to see completely maybe with your own good intent that you feel free, strong, and so forth but actually at the same time kids and “certain” people are watching... if someone was to try n pay me for a hella lot to do such a thing as well, I couldn’t do it and wouldn’t go through with..

  • I think it is. It's unnecessary. I understand telling a story but the sexualization of ourselves has gone too far. I'm not for this "empowered" bullshit.

Obviously people will disagree and call me a regressive who hates women being proud of themselves. That is simply not the case and it's a stupid argument.

  • I find it the ultimate form of self security and confidence to be able to show your body on screen in front of thousands and move on with your life... also, it's the human body. Nothing we all haven't seen before.😂

    • I think the problem is, that its always the same type of woman on tv... to skinny, to big breasts, perfect size, perfect everything... and by the way its the same with male nudity..
People on tv should be more diverse so all people can see that having that one size more or less is also normal...
These days a lot of young boys and girl become anorectic just because of this.. and then there is instagram... pff its all poisoning this small world..

    • Definitely agree with that for both sexes

  • I wouldn't look at nudity of Women on TV if i had a girlfriend
I would think she would be enough for me i wouldn't want

  • It's degrading they don't show men. What's wrong with our bodies? Why is a penis always considered too much or inappropriate or ugly?

  • How is the natural human form "degrading?" Do you think so little of yourselves?

If people saw me naked for entertainment, I'd be flattered.

  • Why would I think female nudity is degrading, especially to a straight man?
How it's presented is a different story. If it's in a nasty way, then that's degrading.

  • If a girl wants to do it that's her choice. Noone should judge her for it.

    • I disagree, it's her choice and her right if she wants to but to say we can't judge her for is a bit foolish.

    • @SirRexington true, just mean you shouldn't treat her any differently then a normal person.

    • We treat everyone different from one another but I understand what you are trying to say and mean. And to that, I agree.

  • Unfortunately, sex sells a lot of TV shows. I'm not sure if a few boob shots would be degrading. I just don't want TV getting to the point of showing it all like porn does. There are many people who long for the days of good movies that were wholesome and didn't need a ton of special effects or nudity to sell them. Not only that but most of these reality TV shows are complete trash and fake and scripted as well.

  • I only find it degrading when the woman js forced into it or she is highly photoshopped but thats played off as what she naturally looks like. Showing the female body for what it naturally looks like, with stretch marks, uneven boobs, lack of perfect posture, etc is empowering if anything

  • Only way its degrading is if the were bullied into it by someone like Harvey Weinstein.

Margot Robbie said her nudity and sex scenes in Wolf of Wall Street was liberating Freeing and Empowering

    • Then why did she say she was uncomfortable being Harley Quinn and nearly stripping even though she technically didn't?

Also, if that is supposed to be empowering then we need to take a hard look at ourselves.

    • Show All
    • And by the way, I don't want to repress or shame anyone in particular for their choices. I don't want women to be more modest and careful because of me or anyone else but instead for themselves. If that isn't who they are, then okay. But as a person (not just a man) who believes we over sexualize ourselves, I can't respect or support that behavior. Its just disgusting and I know most men wouldn't be comfortable with it. I want to see her heart not her tits, regardless of what my instincts tell me.

I'm not in any way religious by the way, I hate religion. So I just wanted you to be aware religion has zero influence on my belief.

    • I also found Margot Robbie's nude scene empowering.

  • Not really as long as male nudity on TV is also shown
