And mediocre dramas sometimes make me disgusted, like they feel so heavy-handed and emotionally manipulated. I get less than zero enjoyment from those. They genuinely irritate me. Meanwhile, when I find a drama great, it might make it to my all-time favorites, but it's far less entertaining to me, and sometimes torture to me, if it doesn't.

Dramas are probably the most hit or miss this way since the filmmakers and actors often have to take themselves very seriously to create a drama and have that dramatic impact on the audience which can risk being so cheesy to me in an obnoxious way. Meanwhile, with like a cheesy sci-fi or horror film, they don't have to take themselves seriously, and often the filmmakers don't take themselves so seriously -- which can make even a mediocre film that doesn't take itself too seriously charming.

It was okay but it wasn’t really scary enough for me. I found myself laughing more than I should have.
