I think instead of picking a system, I'm going to give reason to why some are so important.Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) first and foremost, because of this console the video game industry survived. Branded as an "entertainment system" allowed it to step away from previous video game consoles because they were seen as toys and novelties. This was an age of experimental games, and fun/story was the focus and not so much graphics.Gameboy, portable and even without colour this remained a staple. Outlasting the Sega Game Gear which had colour.Super NES, some really great games came out for this console and some great experimental ideas.Sega Genesis, I can't get over how many peripherals this had. Sega Saturn, Sega CD, Sega 32x, Sonic n Knuckles, etc (Google the Sega stack if you've not seen it). Still some great games. Unfortunately, this was Sega's great hope not even the Dreamcast could live up to this system.Nintendo 64, especially for its breakthrough controller. They introduced the joystick when only arcades were doing it. Also the trigger. They allowed developers to make games with a Dpad or joystick and players could hold the controller in different ways depending on requirement. This was the start of games being created as truly polygons, and not so much pixels. Also remembering the Rumble Pak, this was the first time force feedback was becoming really common. PlayStation, this was Sony's entrance to gaming and solidified there spot with 4 generations. Games were now being shown as graphical and looking more realistic.Xbox, Microsoft's entrance console. They included a huge storage space to allow game saves internally, save music files, and just a smooth running system. True competition for Sony, for years to come. The Nintendo Switch is probably my top choice for consoles. Allowing it to be portable and a home console. Powerful enough, but Nintendo has always been amazing for the games they create are focused on fun factor first. Switch is just a very diversified system, allowing many configurations of play.
ATARI 2600. I have a working one LOL.
I have the sega genesis and 32x. Sega gamegear. Original xbox. Xbox 360 and now the xbox 1. So far out of those i like the xbox 1 the best. I've played on the nes system, nintendo 64, and nintendo cube and i found the 64 to be easier to use. Out of sony i played on the ps1, ps2, ps3 and ps4. The ps4 is nicer. I've played the sega saturn and didn't care for it. The sega master system and sega cd were a joke. I had an atari which was classic. I've played on the commodore 64 and the apple 2e was better. I got headaches playing the nintendo vr system.
OG NES is the shit, but I’d say my lifelong overall favorite games are from PS2. Haven’t played since the newest generation of consoles came out though so there’s probably some CRAZY shot that’s come out since like 2010 or so when I stopped having time to play.
The reason people pick and choose between the main 2 market monsters "Xbox vs PlayStation" is all because of an emotional attachment to one console, if I grew up with a PlayStation I'm goin to prefer it over an Xbox, and vise versa. Me personally I like the Xbox because my first console was the Xbox 360.
Strictly out of sentiment probably the Sega Megadrive 3.. I had so much fun playing on it and every game was just a hit. Too bad my baby sister chucked it from the balcony tho.. Got a PS2 after that.
Honestly my old NES, though I don't remember much about it, it was the first console my family ever owned (tbf back when we had that I ways way more into sport and playing outside, oh how the times have changed xD)
PlayStation 4. Before that it was PlayStation 2. And if PlayStation 5 is fully backwards compatible with at least PS4, PS5 will be my favorite console when it comes out.
Play Station 2 because of its legendary video games. God I miss them so much.
Playstation. For me had the best titles at the time. I'd say ps2 would be closer if I didn't have it crap out on me so many times.
PS3 because i have one of the backwards compatible systems, so I can play my ps2 games on it.
The original Nintendo was a game changer. In had pong and Atari but the Nintendo started it all for me
PS 1 and Nintendo 64I was playing them every day.So many good games.NBA Hangtime on 64, just to name one.
I’m exclusively a PlayStation man 🎮 It’s what I grew up with, though a Super Nintendo was the first console I owned, but I only played the Donkey Kong Country trilogy on that 🐵🦍
Nintendo N64, 3DS, New 2DS XL, Playstation 1, Game Boy Advance and Sega Game Gear.
