One thing I can do sorta in all fields is to break things down from the coarse data to the granular details. Sometimes I stop at coarse data. That's enough for me, like in the first phase of the first pic. Sometimes I wanna get all the way down to the details. But I never start with details.
I'm also more athlete than artist. I don't really think about making picture. One of the reasons I can make these things quickly is that I think of it like a sport. Move fast super fast. Use eye. Move faster. Arm hurts. Move faster.
I like to understand the whole idea first. Probably why I suck at answering questions on here like, "Guys, what color eye is best on girls?" That don't compute for me. I gotta look at the girl. Which girl? I look at whole. I only drill down to details like eye color last.
One general thing about me is that I am the most impatient person in the world. I think people talk too slow. I watch YT videos on 2x+ speed. Everything is so slow. I wanna move fast -- faster -- faster. If my muscles burn I get stronger -- then I can move faster. If I drink alcohol though then I enjoy things at normal speed.
You know how some people how to read out loud when learning their language. I always thought that was too slow. I don't read in a "voice". It's just symbols I scan through. I get the data. Sometimes I scan through too fast though and miss something -- more so these days as I get older. :-D But I'm kinda fast -- before could type at close to 300 WPM and read even faster.
[...] You know how some people [have] to read out loud [...]Yeah, I'm getting worse at this. I gloss over more and more the more I get older.
Wow your artwork is really good.
Nice sketch app douche bag. How the fuck do you use brushes with pastels. Fake as bitch. Just be yourself
@rosscore728 It's an Oekaki applet -- digital medium. But not so much in the way of soft brushes or ones that can blend. I'm not so used to pastels but with traditional media, more used to pen and ink like so:I'm quite an impatient type so I was never all that good with graphite or pastel or any medium that involves smudging/blending.
Charcoal and chalk (lazy quick one on toned paper that I sketched in a bar). Unfortunately, I never got so many scans of my traditional works. I tended to just stick to the tablet and digital once I got it.
Yeah any medium that involves talent. I guess when you watch porn you actually think you fucked her or in probably in your case him
@rosscore728 Where you coming from anyway? Have a gripe against digital? :-D I do prefer traditional mediums. Just sort of tricky since I used to travel a lot for my work. Easier to just stick to ballpoint and typing paper or stylus I can just bring around anywhere.
@rosscore728 Oh, was it that critique before of the family sketch you made on edge work? I do think it's very promising and I wasn't speaking as a professional artist. I'm happy to accept any critiques of mine you have as well (although constructively if I'm to take them to the heart). I meant to speak as a fellow "student", not "teacher". I'm not a pro by any means and it's rare that I take anything to finished rendering stage. I just like to make rapid sketches in whatever medium I have handy.
@Obtuse What do you mean "sorta"? Your work is freaking AMAZING
@Yads_Is_Back Cheers and thanks. Well, there is a sort of unfinished and doodly quality to everything I do. And I find I'm not so good to be using expensive mediums so often -- it tends to make me tighten up and get afraid of making mistakes (I used to be the type that was stingy with the paint tubes back when I used acrylics and oils). One of the reasons I started focusing on speedy doodly types of things with the cheapest mediums is that it makes me more confident to be bolder and looser.
Wow these are all great talents.
