How do you feel about a band or musician changing their style of music?

Obviously, people change as they get older and that reflects in the things they make. As far as a band goes, does it disappoint you when they change their style? I hear lots of people say the reason they like a band is because of the sound they first heard from them. The most drastic example of shift in style I can think think of is SilverChair, having gone through polar opposites. Try these and see for yourself

Really, I'm all for a band or musician going in that direction if they want... even if I'm not a fan of the new style. I understand if you've got an artistic idea in your head and you want it then you must do it.

Or do you think it could be signs of a sellout?

That points got some strong validity behind it. Though, I'm not so sure every musician is so concerned with fame or money. A good example comes to mind of Kurt Cobain. According to his interviews, he'd actually become quite disenchanted by his popularity. Plus, he always dressed like a normal guy anyways.
