I sorta love Possessor (2020). But it's such a new one that I don't know how I'll feel about it over the passing years. One I felt good about all the way from childhood is Robocop (1987). Robocop is always da bomb:https://www.youtube.com/embed/ECemP5fi_n0
Robocop is totally badass. Possessor is brutal. It is one of the most violent films I've seen, and by that I don't mean gore. I mean psychologically violent, visceral, realistic, not Hostel or Saw kind of stuff but really disturbing. I loved it1
This new director, Brandon Cronenberg, gives me hope for future filmmaking though. I'm getting in the age where I think everything new is kinda shit except a few things here and there. I want to rewatch the old stuff. But Brandon got something really interesting to me -- it's sort of like his father and sorta like Panos Cosmatos and something of his original twist to it all. I really feel like I'm watching something pretty new with his stuff including Antiviral (though I think far more people will find that boring than Possessor -- but I loved Antiviral too).
