Do you play?
Very slightly! My thing is drums but I'm also learning bass and keys and, hopefully, tabla and Chapman Stick, if I can ever find/afford one.
I noticed you knew the name of it
I've been into music all my life and my brother used to have a `57 SG that, after he sold it, we found out was worth a lot of money.
That was dumb to sell something you had your whole life
I seriously doubt he had it his whole life, he either bought it in the early `80's after he got home from the Air Force or while he was there in the late `70's. Up until then, he wasn't at all into music! His entire record collection consisted of 2 albums and a single and they were mostly kiddie records he got when he was little. By the time he got back home, he had dozens of albums and a high-dollar stereo that he wouldn't even let ME touch, and I've been collecting records since I was at least 2!! He also had one of those fancy Ampeg scroll basses. The bridge was the pick-up! I've only ever seen two others since then. One of them was owned by the bass player of Hall & Oates. He sold both of them to friends of his in the late `80's, I think. I know who got the SG but, haven't been able to get him to sell it back. I'm not even sure it'll be worth as much as they say because it looks like someone stripped off the original finish and just hand-painted it glossy white. Maybe it came that way from the factory, I don't know.He tried to put a band together but they sounded like an amateur version of Captain Beefheart's Magic Band. I don't think he ever even knew who that was. I never knew until 1981!!My band, however, nearly got signed to Warner Brothers and Sony. We had one record on Smog Veil and then ended up on Eerie a few years before we broke up.
How was his rhythm? Was it tight?
I don't recall them straying from the beat but the beat was very strange. It was kind of like, "hit anything as long as it's in time". It sounded a lot like the last 3:00 of this song.https://youtu.be/r6mzoso95-Q
What's the Les Paul
It's a guitar Einstein.
It sounds like a name
Yes that's the name of the guitar. Sorry about the Einstein crack, I was drunk when I typed that.
Me too but I'd have to see if I could take that stick off it
