Given everything I said, I would recommend them for the philosophy involved.I don't want to give any more spoilers, but many people will not interpret these movies on what the story is truly trying to convey which, believe it or not, is really just a problem in mathematical dynamics.
And don't bother listening to people who say the sequels aren't so good. They are pivotal to understanding the big picture. The first movie, alone, does not provide that. All it does is set up the universe of the story and have lots of martial arts. The real story comes later in the next two movies.
I've watched the first one now it was on ITV4 lol but not the others yet
What did you think of it?
It was ok I can see why it was groundbreaking at the time
Oooh cool... Glad you got to see it. 😊👍🏾
What's the "message"?
@Rachelspiks Spoiler alert.. it is about society.
@Guffrus It's not.
So what's it about then? I always just thought it was nothing more than a movie, a way to waste a couple of hours or so in pure escapism.
@Rachelspiks It took me 15 years to understand.But due to my clue, perhaps it takes less for you.
Just fucking say whatever it is that you think you know.You aren't special, you aren't in a mystical secret inner circle.Burning bushes dont talk to you.Get over yourself.
@Guffrus I disagree.
@es20490446eQuote: I disagreeLook you either have something to contribute or you dont and withholding information pretending you are some flaming hot shit is just making you look like a total fuck wit.It is also functionally identical to not knowing anything at all.But I'll take a wild stab shall I?After 15 years you finally realised there were some religious references in there too, like Neo being the 2nd coming of Jesus and you thought this was some how secret and profound even though they explictly talk about religion in the later films.
Okay, I'll take a guess.It's about how in reality nothing within reality is actually real, because what we think is real isn't, and that's because the makers of the film were recognising the unreality of our reality, which in reality is just a simulation.I've noticed that many these days have jumped on the 'Simulation Hypothesis' bandwagon, and are turning the concept into what could easily become the foundation for a new, 21st century religion, but I'm just not convinced. There are no good reasons to believe that what we experience in our daily lives is nothing more than an illusion, in spite of all the convoluted arguments of the philosophers who have supported the notion since the time of Plato and his cave.
@Rachelspiks The computer simulation idea is an interesting one, but ultimately it doesn't have any meaning because there is no way to know so even if it is a simulation the only course of action is to conduct yourself as though it wasn't.
@Rachelspiks It is a specific thing what is unreal.
It's a slow starter coz it's the first of it's kind with all the technicalities. Like someone else said it set the blue print for Sci fi movies after that.
@lilyanony1: Still not a fan.
I am about to
