I haven't since my university years. I do read non-fiction technical books a lot still but all as part of my work. I'd be interested in suggestions for leisurely reading.
I think I became a little bit allergic to reading leisurely through my university literature courses. The reading material was often quite dated and I had to struggle through each paragraph taking notes and looking up history just to try to make sense of the author's words. It was anything but leisurely and relaxing for me.
I've also become especially sensitive to writing styles in ways I wasn't before. I can't help but start thinking about who the author is given their choice of words rather than fully immersing myself in their writing. I end up finding myself helplessly analyzing the author as a person rather than engaging in their material.
What I'd love to read is maybe a fictional book, sufficiently contemporary in a writing style that I don't need to research the culture and history to understand the writer's prose, but is still meaningful and deep enough that I find more upon re-reading. I'd love to have a book I can re-read like that if anyone has suggestions. I've found my reading and writing skills and maybe even certain aspects of thinking skills deteriorating with age. But I'm not so interested in these kinds of pop culture writers like a Stephen King. I want something exquisite.
