Is there a point in apologizing if you're not one bit sorry?

Anonymous
I've always wondered what's the point of apologizing if you're not sorry. I think someone should only say it if they mean it and make the amends/changes.

I've already seen what an insincere apology does; the same offense happens again (whether days, weeks or years later) and you're back at nothing. Then you can't use another insincere apology anymore because you won't be believed next time.

That's what ends up happening every time anything isn't said or done from the heart; it's only a temporary peace acting just as a band-aid to a big problem but not really solving it.
