Never assume you are the smartest person in the room. It's one thing to be self aware, but it is better to hear others comment on you being smart (just thank them if they say so and keep those thoughts to yourself). Humility is key.

Don't let yourself step into arrogance or hubris, because that's when you really make an ass of yourself and a downfall.

No.! I listen more than talk in the room then I pray a lot though and I have discovered that some people are so jealous and insecure for talking down on others and trying to plant suspicion in others relationships.

Depends on the room. Most of the time I am, but it's fun when I'm not.

You don't have to stoop as low as the dumbest person around you, but you do need to adjust enough to not alienate people.

The purpose of speaking is to be understood, so you wouldn't strain your vocabulary around somebody who is just starting to learn English. Right?
