Is it common to get along with your sibling when you're older?

Anonymous
I'm not sure how often this happens:
You didn't blend too well with your sibling in your earlier years. Then when you guys are older (in your teens or adults) you're suddenly best friends with them.

My best friend is my older brother (he's only older by 2 years) but if anyone knew what our relationship was during childhood they would be surprised. I admit, it was me that used to be the bratty sister; messing up some of his toys, gettting him in trouble, purposely making him trip on his b-day cake, playing pranks on him, etc... the annoying sister one would hate. Most of the times he took it and seldom times (if I overdid it to the point he ran out of patience) he got back at me. Then suddenly we started getting along better after I turned 14. I wasn't into childish games anymore, teasing him nor too much into pranks by then.

Is this common?
