Can someone explain to me why white people like to tan?

I’m guessing because in some part of the world, tan skin is considered as attractive and it looks “healthy” though it actually brings more damage to them. Similar to the people of colored who love bleaching because pale skin is considered to be the most attractive.

I would love to be that Beach right now with my feet dug in the sand getting some sun with my feet in the sand I'm grounding to the Earth between the sand in the sun it's rejuvenating my body my soul my mind my spirit MyHealth my eyes will be looking for girls the rejuvenates everything else

I don't deliberately go to the beach just to tan.
I go boating or go the the beach and get sunburnt my skin tans so next time I may take off my shirt to remove tan lines. It's for appearance, it's often associated with good health as well.
Side note the sun feels good.

I like to not be pale in the Summer and change it up a bit :D.. and I really like the feeling of the sun on my skin, as long as it is not burning. Like in the spring/autumn :)

No idea. I'm not a fan of the sun and neither am i white. I don't know, maybe because they're from colder climates where they don't get much so they try to make the most of the sun when they get the chance.

Because tanning is usually done when on holiday. People are taking time off of work to relax and chill. The sun feels fantastic when you're laying on a beach with no immediate stress or worries.

I have a Farmer's Tan and that is because I have to work in the sun.
I guess that they think that it makes them more attractive and healthy looking all the while getting skin cancer?
