Honestly its just a shirt and nothing more. Anyone that would negatively judge you for it is less likely to have any kind of interaction with you. So they would be doing you a favor. Because people willing to pass negative judgement on you for something as simple as the shirt you are wearing is not worth your time, energy or effort. Though there is something to be said about listening to a band before buying a shirt. That way you don't wind up wearing a shirt of a band who's views don't align with your own. Such as a band who's lyrical themes deal with something like Occultism, Satanism and Sumerian gods.

I think it's pretty daft if you don't know the band at all. If the artwork is good enough that I want to buy it, then that should be enough to get me to check out the band. If I decide I don't like their music that's fine, at least I can say I know a bit about them.
I do not at all. Usually if I find one I like I give the band a try anyway if I haven’t heard them but I’ll still buy a shirt off looks alone. I had a friend who wore a band shirt with her baby at Spencer’s and they shared her photo. Fans were so outraged they called her all kinds of names (the baby too) and most of the comments were based on her skin color. Of course she wasn’t a mega fan but knew of the band and liked some of the music. But bought the shirt because it looked nice. Some people are so serious about stuff like this
All fun and games until someone asks you who your favourite song is by them. This happened to me while I was wearing a top that I assumed was for a fake band. It wasn’t a fake band. Mortifying.
No. I think it's good to wear band t-shirts of good bands. Notice how people don't wear any new bands... Maybe it's cause music has hit an all new level of suck I could never have imagined. I'd rather listen to children screaming in daycare than the shit being piped out today. As long as you have Protools, you can make a hit. Have slutty bitch "sing" about her pussy and viola! A hit song!
Yes, i would never wear band merch unless i know the band at least a little bit.
Problem is some people don't even know anymore that it is a band, since its sold at big general clothing stores, like H&M.

... or they could wearing the band shirts cause they like the band. Hell, I still have Sevendust, Breaking Benjamin, Five Finger Death Punch shirts/hoodies I pull out from time to time.
I think if you don't listen to the music you shouldn't wear it tbh. If you like a few songs that's fine but if you can't even name one it's kinda weird.

It's very dumb. Why on Earth would you wear a t-shirt of a band you don't even know? What you you think their music sucks? If Nickelback had really cool t-shirt designs (I highly doubt they do though) I'd still not wear one in a million years.

Yes. If you’re not a least a bit If a fan yes. Go find something else with a similar look if you want.
If I like even one song by a band, I’ll wear the shirt while riding in my car listening to gangsta rap. Idgaf. Who’s going to stop me 🥴

If you're wearing a Metallica's or Pantera's t-shirt but don't know any of their songs that's a bit dumb. Makes you look like a poser in my opinion.

You don't have to be a super fan or anything, but you should like the band. Also those shirts look amazing with a uniqlo heattech turtleneck underneath!
Asker there question back, is it dum to drive car and not know every single detail about it in and out? Or use iphone without knowing its ins and outs like procesor, memory and so on? Why band t-shirt would be any different?

Maybe. But what's the big deal? I wear t-shirts for beer brands and I actually don't know what much about beer (more into hard liquor like whiskey). I just like the girl in the bikini.
Possibly slightly less dumb than being a walking advertisement for say Niké or Addidas. Either way you are PAYING someone to advertise something for them. That seems pretty dumb if you ask me
