So why is he going ahead with it then
Because they do.This is hard to explain...Many people may think they are in love and they are not. They have no real idea what love really is.This is why, as much as I hate to say this, EVERYONE should get a broken heart. It is among the worst experiences that can happen to you.It will change you forever and turn you into a human being.Once you have a real broken heart, you will know what real love and real devastation are.I had a great broken heart on 12 JAN 1992 and I have never recovered... and partly that is because I had my first broken heart 10 years earlier, 01 JAN 1982. Because I was aware of what a broken heart and real love were after that first one, I knew I was doomed after the second one.Anyway, most young people who say "I love you" don't understand it yet - and that includes people who have even gotten married.*sigh* Real love is a form of insanity. A complete obsession about another person. If Chris is in love with Pat, then:1. Chris can't imagine cheating on Pat.2. Chris would die for Pat without even thinking about it.3. Chris genuinely believes no other human on Earth can take better care of Pat than Chris.4. Chris understands that Pat is more important than anyone else including any family member.5. Chris would not know what to do if Pat was gone for Chris's life.6. When Pat isn't around, Chris thinks about Pat.7. Chris wants to "get a PhD in Pat" and learn everything that can be learned about Pat.I am probably forgetting some things and there are other things that either I will not discuss or cannot discuss because I don't have the experience to do so. But, I am simply relaying these attributes of a person in real love. Most people are not in real love. Even me. I "love" my wife, but not like that because I had such a bad unrecoverable heartbreak, I am not sure that I am capable of real love anymore. But I do love my wife as best as I can given my handicap.
