What is his dating history like? Has he had bad experiences? I can't be certain what he means, but my gut tells me it's because he feels he can be honest and real with you without being afraid of how you'll react. To be fair to the ladies, he's probably making an inaccurate generalization about women because of his past experiences (if that's what he's known). But that doesn't change the fact that there's a peace he feels when he's with you.
