Have you ever liked someone, thinking they don't like you back, and it turned out they did?

There was one time in particular that comes to mind. My senior year in high school, I really liked this guy and flirted with him like crazy. I took him to my school's winter dance and we had a fantastic time, and I felt sure that he liked me and would ask me out soon. As time passed by and he didn't ask me out, I started feeling really down. We stopped talking for a long time, and then a year later I got a text from him at around 3am. The conversation went like this:

Him: I'm sorry.

Me: What for?

Him: I knew you liked me last year and I liked you too, but I didn't ask you out because you look exactly like my cousin.

AND AT LAST WE HAVE AN EXPLANATION! :) I'm sure he felt weird bringing it up a year later, but I appreciate that he did.

i liked someone, who was my friend. thought he didn't like me back and only wanted to hook up with me for the hell of it. I rejected him because I didn't want to look like a fool. I found out that he did actually like me. and now he won't talk to me anymore. it's been almost 6 months. so I lost a friend and probably will never get him to speak to me again. happy endings ftw.

It turned out that he liked me back but by the time he told me I was already sick of him and his bullsh*t, and he was a pathological liar so he could have just been telling me he liked me because I stopped paying him attention.
