  • ... no.
(it'd be interesting if you tried to post any advertisements that had sexist undertones from the last decade or two, though. Rather than just grabbing them off of an article with a bunch from the 50's, when society and the role women held within it were both very different.)

  • Nothing makes me want to run out to a restaurant more than the promise of eating something sloppy and hastily prepared.

I choose not to get worked up over sexist shit. You can look at today's commercials/advertisements where it's a bunch of idiot husbands that screw up everything and have their wives standing close by rolling their eyes and learn to shrug it off. eliciting a reaction, ANY reaction, good or bad, is usually more effective than something generic or unmemorable.

Most of these are funny, but obviously they wouldn't fly today where just about anything evokes outrage.

  • I take no notice of any adverts at all. I do my utmost not to be taken in by any retail ploys to promote different products. Supermarkets arrange things they want to push at a convenient eye level. I do not mind grovelling on the floor to find something cheaper!

  • The adverts are selling something else rather than the product. I think its selling misogyny.

  • This is simple. No fucking way would these ads convince me to buy these products when they're reaffirming and consolidating a patriarchal society.

  • Of course they wouldn't. They're sexist, so I would be stupid if I bought them.

What Guys Said 26

  • It is a mistake to judge historical artifacts by contemporary standards of morality and societal expectations. One hundred years into the future, the idea of keeping animals as pets may be totally unacceptable and people then may look back on us and think that we were barbaric towards animals.

  • I don't really pay attention to ads, they just try to bait people into buying their products, I mostly look at the product reviews to decide if I want to buy it.

And I don't trust any ads because I know their motives - make as many sales as possible.
