Ah, fruitcake is what we called that growing up. Candied fruit and nuts in a dense, heavy matrix of sweet bread. Usually baked in a Bundt pan. We'd soak it in brandy, and store it in airtight tins. My father traded one back and forth with his sisters for years, in exchange for the family fingerbowls, of all things. When I was eight, I snuck down into the basement, broke the seal, and devoured the whole thing. I was drunk all day, and sick the next. :) But yeah, I still love a good fruitcake, especially at Christmas.
