I don't know... I feel that any cake that uses fondant (which I consider inedible) is basically cheating. If she did it all out of butter cream, then I would have been amazed.

It’s easy to make fondant look realistic (well for artistic people haha) because it’s basically sculpting or painting. You can keep building up layers or smoothing it back out if you make a mistake to get it how you want it. Consistent practise perfects skills like that, so while it can be impressive and take a crazy amount of time to make one cake - it’s not all that uncommon anymore when many people want a designer cake for their personal celebrations
