  • Partner is a chef and I never see him.

    You earn low.
    You get treated low.
They hate you and your family.
Usually everyone you work with is a chav/redneck/pothead.
    You get no breaks.
    You get no pay rise.
    You get 24/7 shifts.
    You get no holiday.

    Its horrible.

  • It's very hard work at the start, with no much compensation unless you work somewhere where they share all the tips between employees. Bit once you get established in a top restaurant you'll be rolling I it and it's a pretty fulfilling job, watching others enjoy something you created

  • Sure as long as you don't mind 16 hour shifts and very low pay! The only way to make it financially big time as a chef is to become a celebrity chef!

  • unless you are crazy passionate about it as a career choice, I don't recommend it.
I say this as a successful chef of 24 years now.
