I'm definitely more of a honey-lover BUT I like both of them and I think they should be used for different things. Maple syrup, to me, is more of a condiment. I drizzle it on (American-style) pancakes or occasionally waffles. Honey on the other hand is something I enjoy eating on a bread, instead of marmalade or some kind of spread. I like the fact that there are so many different kinds of honey... it's a lot of fun to try new ones. Here in Switzerland, people mostly eat the more expensive honeys that are sold in glass jars. The factory-style honey from the plastic bottle isn't very popular (or easily available). My favorite type of honey is a very creamy, light-colored one that is rather solid when you first open the glass.
I also like to use honey for my warm milk or for cooking/baking, as a sweetener instead of sugar. I feel like honey is a little more versatile than maple syrup but maple syrup is definitely yummy too.
