  • Hot Water Corn Bread, fried pickles, REAL Red Velvet cake made with beets and so MOIST, peach pie, 93 different styles of Barbecue - each claiming to be better than all the others, boiled shrimp and crawfish while standing barefoot out on the lawn with all the local politicians doing likewise, Blenheim's Spicy Gingerale, Tailgaiting raised to the level of religious experience.

Potato Salad, Deviled Eggs and Corn on the Cob are something they enjoy in all parts of the US. Summer corn when it's fresh off the stalk is a true gift from God. Makes me sad for people who have never experienced that.

  • Some gizzards, fried squirrel, fried fish, cathead biscuits and gravy, BBQ, cornbread, pinto beans, (some folks eat chitlins) most any kind of wild animal: coon, deer, snake, possum, wild hog, squirrel, rabbit, and most kinds of fish. Apple dumplings, all kinds of cobblers and pies (especially pecan pie), canned corn, corn on the cob (fried, grilled, and boiled), all sorts of vegetables (watermelons, cabbage, okra, squash, tomatoes, potatoes, turnip greens, collard greens, mustard greens, and much more. Can't name it all.

  • Tricky one. As a foreign girl who's learning more about American life, I'll say this:

Fried chicken, grits, buttermilk scones, pecan pie, gumbo, buckwheat cake (I think?), catfish, sweet tea and whiskey.
