If it's spaghetti I can't stand having the sauce mixed in, it makes the dish get cold too quickly and reduces the texture/flavor variety. On the other hand... if it's Alfredo you best believe I want it all mixed together so I can enjoy every bite of that cheesy goodness.
Kind of both, I like to mix some sauce in so the pasta can absorb some of the flavor. But, then I like to top of my plate with more sauce and parmasian

I generally prefer on top. Reason is that if there are left overs, I store the sauce and pasta separately, so they can be heated up separately. Makes the left overs taste just like fresh.
