Just curious to know the preferred alcohol between different gender, different age groups and different geographical areas and different cultural and social upbringing. It would be great if you could also mention the frequency of the alcohol consumed at which age did you start. Was it your parents being aware of your drinking or was it you sneaking away from your parents to have alcohol.

I sincerely love scotch. I don't like brown liquors as much, but there are so many unique alcohols in every category. I don't drink bourbon much, but there are very good, high end bourbons I've enjoyed. I don't drink tequila much, but yesterday I had a lovely tequila that reminded me of scotch! I'm not much of a rum fan either, but I've had some excellent varieties and delicious Cuba libres. Good wines are wonderful, as are liquers and dessert wines. Sauternes, Pinot Noirs, ports, ruby ports, brandy. There are so many and such variety it's hard to write off any one KIND of drink if you haven't tasted every single iteration of it!
I don't drink much beer, but I love dark beers that you drink at room temperature. I like to chew my beers: porters, stouts etc.
Same is true for cocktails: sometimes I'll drink a cocktail with an alcohol I'd not drink straight up because the mix is great tasting. Tequila shots? No sir. But fine tequilas abound.
There's good in EVERY style of liquor. You simply have to try them. It takes a long time and an open mind.

I've drunk scotch since I was 17. The big difference is that these days I go for a 15 year old single malt not the blends I drank then.

I brew my own cider as well and I'm looking into making fruit wines as well.

I generally like rum although, I regret it afterwards it can give you quite a hangover. When I was in China I drank baijiu. It has a real kick to it and all but the toughest drinkers would probably need to water it down which I did.
