Yeah, I was a sad drunk. I would sit and just think about how crappy life was. I had a girlfriend that lived halfway across the county and I would get drunk and just miss her like crazy. It would make me really sad. Then I would have to pee every five minutes too. I gave it up 20 years ago. I became unemployed for a while and it was one less thing I had to spend money on. When I became employed again I decided that I didn't want to drink anymore.
@JackSmy. Reds of course. 😁
What happened was, when I was underage we could get hold of horrid stuff like Boon's Farm and Spanada and get drunk as hell. I got horribly sick on that stuff too many times. After that, the mere smell of wine made me sick.
Years later, I tasted some quality dessert wine and said "This is wine?" It was delicious.
Once I got used to that, I tasted white wines like Chardonnay, etc. I slowly graduated to reds and started going to wine tastings. Now I love good quality reds. Brandy can be wonderful. And I still love all kinds of dessert wines and port.
@JackSmy. Some Chiantis and other Italian wines are wonderful. I like Zin, Sirah, Petite Sirah, Cab, Pinot, Malbec, good quality Merlot. I've had some Spanish varietals that I don't remember the names of that were delicious. If it's bold and red I usually like it.
I hate Champagne but I like some Proseccos. I hate Gewurztraminer. Some white wines and even good quality Rose can be really refreshing on a warm day or as an aperitif. But I rarely drink anything but red.
I made that mistake with long island iced tea. Gosh, this tea is really good, and it makes me feel good! Why am I waking up on a futon in the manager's office of the bar I work at... I started 2 miles away lol

If it's really bad drinking actual electrolytes helps.
If anyone ever needs my conference pre-presentation hangover recovery plan just ask.
Is the pre-conference plan to give yourself an IV of saline, take some vitamins and eat some eggs?
Ahh, yeah, that is a big thing I miss about the military, having a friendly doc to go drinking with who will give an IV in the morning... they aren't that tough to do, all the schooling and stuff gets ridiculous at some point. Coffee is great when your stomach can handle it, but your veins can never say no.
Oh it was, I didn't get headache, just felt half dead all day 🤣🤣 but hey productive while drinking, made two batches of home brew I barely remember making and I'm not one to usually forget when I drink either, why was never much of a drinker in my younger years
I've found I've gotten over the vomiting urge... maybe that's why I get more of a hangover. I drink two bottles of whiskey and I don't vomit at all. But I'll be hungover for like 3 days.
Damn, 2? I thought I was bad if drink one lol but what size, tho? Cuz, sometimes size does matter 🤣🤣🤣
One thing I found though to relieve some symptoms though if I don't pass out before is to take a super hot bath before I hit the sack. Then it might only one-day hangover. If I pass out before I do that, more like 2-3 days though. Also I swear by miso soup (especially shijimi) if I can get that in before passing out. That seems to help as well as if I pass out and wake up hungover for relief. Also for relief, I tried all sorts of stuff but I find sorta burnt toast with no butter seems to help something.
750ml sort of standard whiskey bottle for me (could be Bourbon or Scotch, whatever). I am trying to learn how to be satisfied with just one but I have this horrible tendency where I finish one and I keep wanting to keep going. I'm wired to binge more than drink regularly, although I've found the worst combination of a tendency to do both during COVID lockdown.
I usually do too, think it's cuz was mixing vodka and Steel Reserve and have drank for a minute
I don't have a problem with mixing. I don't really believe the hype. If you drink too much, it will hurt the next day. How you got to that point may matter at the fringes, but ethanol is ethanol. It's the additives that change the nature of how you feel.
UGHH... now if I drink.. i need to at least sleep 10 hours to feel somewhat normal... but the hangovers are getting worse and worse
I already have but.. no matter if you are 20 or 50 the older you get your liver works at a slower rate.. hence the hangover when you get older
In my case, it is hard to get hung over on flavored water. I hardly ever touch alcohol any more.
I usually don't get one either but I'm feeling the drinking from yesterday 🤯
When you don't drink you can just look at all the hungover people on Sunday morning and just smile.
I was unemployed for a while about 20 years ago. I stopped drinking because it was one less thing I have to spend money on. When I became employed again I decided I didn't want to drink anymore. I wish I could tell you that my workouts got a lot better and everything that was messed up with my life suddenly was okay. Alas, that was not the case. Maybe the workouts got a little better but the mess was still there.
naw, drinking is a social thing for me xD i don't like alcohol. i just drink it to get rid of my inhibitions.
Try this🥃🍒 it's moonshine cherries 🍒 if you eat 4 - 5 cherries you should be feeling pretty good! 😁. If you don't like it I have other moonshines in the covered you can try out. There should be Blue flame and apple pie 70! The moonshine is Ole Smoky® Tennessee
🥃... Mmm What's the moonshine your giving me?
Hard apple mmm very good. I mostly drink pure vodka 2 or 3 shots no chasers and I drink moonshine either on family events or special occasions.
Whiskey. I haven't had Whiskey for a very long time. Last time I had whiskey it didn't turned out too well..
Why I drink at home... And sometimes make my own hard cider 👍 and I usually don't get hung over, but yesterday, yeah different story lol
You know aunty when I look at you
I feel like "it's dream come true moment" for me. 😂😂
My aunty is best 😘
