Why do women lie so much? I'm not talking about in dating. I mean like to their friends about their hobbies, personality, likes, and dislikes?

Many of my female friends just flat out lie about themselves. The easiest to spot is the fake book worm. Why women lye about really liking books these days is beyond me. No when a girl says she really likes books and should not go onto a book store. I simply test them by asking what book they are reading. One year latter or six months latter. I ask her again 4-7 times it is the same book. 7-7 times they just finished that one and are on to the next book chapter 2. I get feeling like our college noses are always in books but reading several school textbooks does not make you a book worm.
The next obvious thing is that they are or are not a geek. This one is really easy to prove. I normally get women to geek out very easily about their favorite stuff. If I know more than you about it then they obvously only watched the thing once and are using that as their geek credit. While I'm on that road I might as well talk about women saying they play videogames. As a gamer myself I know a lot about games. I'm not a geek so if I know more about something it means that she only saw it once or just looked it up on wiki.
Women most obvously lie about playing games and how good they are. I have nothing against women gamers. I love playing against my female friends that are good. It is when they claim to be and the only thing they play is angry birds and they suck at it. Or they say that they play halo, cod, mariocart. However when they do they try to show you. They get stuck in a corner and you find out that they only play with their brother usually with the controller unplugged.
The next thing they lie about is their likes and dislikes. When I ask my female friends what she likes to do. Usually she will lie and throw in some B's active activities that she likes to do. One of the normal ones to lie about is sports or hiking. Granted she might go on one once in a blue moon. Or she will claim that she was on a hike but that was 6 years ago. Why do women obviously lie to their friends?

Look at the election as an exmaple. People are polarized and cling to positions they believe in due to how they feel, eventhough both sides are often so wrong. they think they tell the truth but are lying to themselves and others.

feelings... their sense are wrong and manipulated, either externally or internally. They lie to protect the truth from being exposed... hiding something in the dark.

To test others if they will call them out on their BS. It is an emotional test... can someone see through their lie? One of the greatest photos I've ever seen... wish I had saved it, if I can find it I'll forward it on... was a woman lying. She was smiling, but her face was contorted of pure evil. I saw it in USA Today and I was like... what is wrong with this newspaper print? I'ts distorted! Nope... it was perfect, she was lying about killing her two children on national TV!

The fall of man/woman... shame... fear... anger... pride! Thankfullly, you have a pure source of love, faith, hope from which to draw to see beyond it, accept their humanness, and rise above it! Aah men!

I love books! Juss can't find any good ones lately... but I could talk for hours about the ones I did read. I think people all lie, about everything. From jobs to money to things they have... but for women specifically, I found this a while ago: www.telegraph.co.uk/.../...t-life-on-Facebook.html

I think it's so funny that people do this. But sad too. I would actually agree with you about women doing it more, but I've experienced guys making up stories on the fly to win arguments. Multiple times. So I would say women lie more face to face and make up things that make their past look better or cool. Guys lie more to win, or to make a point.

I love it that people lie though, since my own life is boring ahaha So I don't have to feel boring or weird, since the truth is their lives are pretty much like mine.

There is another easy way to tell if a girl is actually a book worm like she portrays. They love to talk about the books they read. If they are faking it they just kind of pass over it and give a vague summary of it. If I read it and try to talk to them about a book they read they just try to change the subject. Then they are not really a book worm they just want you to think they are.

@flypaper No I randomly test my female freinds and male freinds to see if they are lying. Honestly no one really lyes that well. You would subtly test your freinds also if you were just stabbed in the back and betrayed by 3 of your freinds.

So saying she likes to hike is a lie if she doesn't get to do it often? I run 3 big races a year but don't get a chance to other wise because... well, life gets in the way so I am a liar when I say a run? I think your just thinking way too deeply into this crap.

No saying that she likes to hike is not a lie. Her saying that she LOVES to hike is a lie when our group goes on 3 and she does not go on any of them. I offered to show them a trail near my house and they always squirm out of it or flakes.
It is a common lie that I found woman use when they want to seem more active than they are. I also doubt that you usually go 1-3 years without running at all. I'm also sure that you fairly regularly run or at least practice. I just used hiking as an common example. I could have just left it as they lie about liking and being able to do a sport.

But why lie to me when I'm their friend? I can understand if they have a crush on me and want to impress me. However it seems like this is a common practice amount women these days. I'm already their friend and I have accepted them. I won't reject them just cause they don't really have any hobbies besides Netflix.
