Why do people degrade men who wants to be househusbands?

Question

What is wrong with wanting to be a houseman or to be submissive? I am told that men who do not wants to work and stay at home, are not real men or are weak etc. I personally do not care if my potential partner wants to stay at home but people i know make fun about it.

Because people consider housekeeping to be menial and “womens’ work”.

Because people think men who do womens’ work are somehow less than men... as though what women do is less valuable than what men do.

Like feeding a family of six on $50 a day.

Like keeping a home safe from the invisible enemies that kill as certainly as bullets and bombs.

Like filling many hats throughout the course of each day: nurse; chef; accountant; psychiatrist; judge; chauffeur; laundry; housekeeper; yard care; personal shopper; logistics clerk; teacher; tailor/seamstress; and many more, depending on the exigencies of the day.

Because people can be short-sighted, narrow-minded and dim-witted.

See, I don't get what's so bad about being the homemaker in a relationship in the first place, and everyone seems to make fun of it. Cook good food, keep a clean house, have a nice body, sexually satisfy your patner, not have to work 50 hours a week... Sign me up.

Why do men get degraded then? Everyone has preferences it is ok if you prefere traditional woman or working woman

Different reasons I'd say. A big one probably being jealousy. There's also a feeling that it isn't a respectable or worthwhile thing to do with your life.

Oh, I know that for certain. I think i'd rather work than take care of kids all day. A house-husband for a woman who doesn't want children though... I wouldn't mind that.

Oh, I know that for certain. I think i'd rather work than take care of kids all day. A house-husband for a woman who doesn't want children though... I wouldn't mind that.

Cause in society we still have the idea that any man who doesn't work to support his family is "useless"
(Which by the way it's bullshit. And yeah go ahead and dislike my comment but if a a person no matter the gender wants to work/not work it's his/hers decision.)

@DanaeAdam5 It's not that simple. On a personal note, I agree that the decision should be up to the man/woman, but overtime, the girl will lose attraction to her man because he's no longer exciting or masculine - then comes the bad boy :D

@DanaeAdam5 I want to believe you, but one thing I've learned after approaching women for 10 hardcore years straight is that women say or do things often based upon their feelings in the PRESENT moment. I cannot tell you how many times a girl says or appears to be happy, but there's something missing. It's usually excitement or masculinity (aggression, confidence, etc) - then comes the bad boy again LOL.

Additionally, in my experience, even the most intelligent, dominant, and/or successful women want a king in their life. Now, are there exceptions? Of course, but the odds are not in your favor in my opinion.

Because women don't want househusbands. It's not a practical life choice and should be discouraged.

If you can somehow convince women not to discriminate by changing what they're attracted to then it could work, but probably not going to happen.

Some people don't like tradition being changed. If anything I honestly wouldn't mind being a house husband for my partner, gives me more time to learn more about cooking and do stuff around the house
