What did my guy friend mean by that?

So I was talking to my guy friend about me having negative thoughts about myself and how I compare myself to other women and think I’m ugly, he said “nah girl you’re cute” and “don’t put yourself down there’s always someone who’s prettier than us normal people”

Was he implying that I’m average? I don't know usually random people tell me that I’m very pretty, but I don't know what did he mean by that last statement. Does it mean he finds me average looking?
What did my guy friend mean by that?
