What might give you a better understanding of how people think is to start with the MBTI personality types. You can get an easy start on it by heading over to 16personalities. com and just reading through the descriptions of each personality type. Also a good idea to take the test and find out your own type. Then just start people-watching and trying to guess what 'type' different people are.
MBTI is by no means the only model for understanding people, but it's neatly divided into categories that are well explained. So especially with your aspergers, I imagine it could be useful to have kind of a "cheat sheet" to help you get a read on people.
It's incredibly difficult to know exactly what someone is thinking in a given moment. But if you can figure out that person's MBTI type, or at least take an educated guess... then you'll have a decent idea of how that person thinks in general.
