Because an interested guy wouldn't WASTE time talking to you. A guy hiding his feelings would MAKE time to talk to you.

Just not on his own. Both have signs in common but the only way to tell is by you starting the convo and pushing through.

Quick trick, you can say "sorry for talking so much, if I'm bothering you Ill just go" and an uninterested guy will let you go usually by not replying to the message. That's your que to end the convo. A guy in hiding will say something to the effect of "please, you're not bothering me at all. I'm down to chat whenever you need me" or something.
